My summer holiday (I mean training)

Having your own Merchandise is an important part of the life of the modern AFL player.

Some fans said they were a bit disappointed not to see me in the game at Fremantle Oval on Saturday. Don’t be worried, it’s all part of the planning. I turned 13 this week (in human years that’s almost as old as Pav) so I’m on a special program.
During the pre-season my days look like this…
6am: get up, stretch, go outside and sniff around.
7.30am: walk to the beach, have a poo, have a swim.
8.30am: breakfast.
8.31am: sleep.
12.30: lunch. This is something new. I never used to have lunch, in fact I’d never heard of it until this summer. But when I came back from the break the fitness guys said I’d done a “reverse Sylvia”. Poor old Colin Sylvia came back fatter, I came back skinnier. They sent Colin to Peel and told me I needed to eat lunch every day. Lots of good things have happened to me in my life but I reckon that’s about the best.
12.31pm: sleep.

Lunch!

Lunch!

4pm: get up, stretch, skills, rest.
5.30pm: walk to the beach, swim.
6.30pm: dinner.
6.31pm: TV.
7pm: sleep.

It’s been a good summer for us older guys. Matthew now has a son called Jack. David now has a son called Hudson, Luke did a personal best in the 3k time trial and on Wednesday 18 February I did a personal best when I slept for 22 hours.

Can’t wait for the games. I’m so excited I slept in today.
